Manchester Monarchs vs. Springfield Falcons - Sunday, October 18

Shot Monarchs' second home game of the year this afternoon. It was 5-0 Manchester mid-way through the second period, so it wasn't very suspenseful, but there were some nice goals, and a pretty good fight. Still enjoy college hockey more, but this is dang good hockey!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk - Sunday, October 18, 2009

Sunday afternoon, in a frezing cold rain (literally, 32 degrees aind raining), I shot the Making Strides against Breast Cancer walk at the ballpark in downtown Manchester. Finding photo op's was not difficult, and the people there were amazing, and extremely outgoing. Covering events like this is always emotional. Having lost a few grandparents and more recently my dad to cancer, and having my mom survive a cancer scare, It hits home. Despite the horrible weather, the concourse at MerchantsAuto.com stadium was packed with participants, many of them survivors, and it really speaks to how important these events are.

Manchester Monarchs vs. Portland Pirates - Saturday, October 17, 2009

Shot the Manchester Monarchs for the first time ever tonight, which is surprising considering a) they're at the start of their 9th season and b) I'm kind of a big hockey fan. Shot the home opener tonight during my shift with the U.L. Got some okay action shots and a few pre game feature-ish shots for the paper. Enjoy.

Londonderry at Manchester Memorial Football - Friday, October 16, 2009

Shot Londonderry at Manchester Memorial football Friday night for the UL. Temperatures dropped into the upper 30's and it felt a lot colder than that. Shot the first half, and snagged a couple of cold(ish) weather shots. Nothing big...

Lenny and Dierdre Wedding - Sunday, October 11, 2009

Sunday, I shot a wonderful wedding in South Boston. Good friend and fellow photographer Karen Winger of Karen Winger Photography hired me as a second shooter for Lenny and Dierdre's wedding, and all things concidered, it went well. I was dropped off at the groom's home in South Boston where I spent an hour and a half with his wedding party. We traveled to the ceremony site in Quincy where the wedding was in a gazebo along the water. We shot formals in a nice park in Dorchester. I focused more on candid moments while she got the formal/group shots, but also managed to capture some pretty good formal/serious moments along with them. The reception was great with a VERY good band (if I can get their name, I'll update this with it). Overall, I think I did pretty well for having very little experience. You can see a gallery with a few more shots at my website by clicking here: Lenny and Dierdre Wedding Gallery. Enjoy. Critiques appreciated!

UNH Football against Villanova - Saturday, October 10, 2009

This afternoon, for AP, I shot UNH football as they defeated #2 Villanova 28-24 in front of over 14,000 homecoming fans at Cowell Stadium. The win for the #5 Wildcats was one of the biggest in recent memory in the regular season, and was an extremely exciting game. The weather was beautiful (save for some wicked gusts of wind), and the crowd was great. An all around great afternoon of football!

Manchester Central at Londonderry Football - Friday, October 9, 2009

Friday night, under awful lighting, and in light foggy rain, I shot Central at Londonderry football for CoachesAid.com. The game itself was pretty entertaining with lots of big plays, but the one thing that stood out is a Londonderry running back getting a personal foul for 'hurdling' after he lept over an opposing player who was still standing. I guess that's not allowed (Unless he is on the ground... who knew?). Also of note, the Londonderry marching band, regarded as one of, if not THE best in the state, was not in attendance due to the VERY light rain. Apparently, the rain would ruin their snazzy uniforms!? Good to know?

UNH Women's Hockey vs. Quinnipiac - Sunday, October 4, 2009

Since I'm not sure how many games I'll catch this month, I headed up to Durham after working in Manchester and shot some of the UNH women's hockey game against Quinnipiac. The Wildcats improved to 2-0 with a 4-0 victory over the Bobcats at the Whittemore Center. Shown here are Kayley Herman making a stick save, Brittany Skudder looking for a rebound in front of the QU goaltender, Courtney Birchard celebrating a goal with teammates and an exterior shot of the Whitt. Enjoy!

Busy morning in Manchester - Sunday, October 4, 2009

Sunday morning, I had an extra shift for the Union Leader to cover several events going on in Manchester. Fire prevention week kicked off with several events including a flea market and a parade. A sidewalk ArtFest was also held at Victory Park, postponed from Saturday due to the rain storm. Finally, Sunday marked Pulaski day, celbrating the life of General Caisimir Pulaski. Enjoy, and look for more photos in the Union Leader!

High School Football and UNH Hockey - Saturday, October 3, 2009

Saturday afternoon I had my first shoot for a new client, CoachesAid.com. Salem and Nashua South, two of the top teams in New Hampshire High School football matched up at Stellos Stadium, a few miles down the road in Nashua. A write-up and a few more photos can be viewed at: http://coachesaid.com/Article/2009/10/3/Jacques-runs-wild-in-Salem-victory

After transmitting the photos to my new client, I headed up to Durham and shot UNH men's hockey in their first exhibition game against Acadia University from Nova Scotia. It was a solid 8-1 win, and despite myself being in pre-season form, I am ready for some good hockey this year!
