Feb 13, 2010 - NHIAA Swimming/Diving Championships and Snocross

For the paper this morning, I trekked up to UNH and had an hour to grab a few shots from the NHIAA Division I Swimming/Diving championships. As luck would have it, and by that I don't mean good luck, they were finishing up diving, and had a break before resuming the swimming, so there wasn't much time to shoot. I managed to get a handful of decent shots, plenty good enough for what we needed.
Following the swimming, I raced down to Rockingham Park in Salem to snap a few shots of Snocross snowmobile racing on a snow-track set up in front of the grandstand. Pretty awesome event, I wish I could have stayed for some of the jumping events, as the house photographer grabbed some awesome shots last night of the participants flying through the air up-side-down.

Saturday, January 16, 2010 - Haiti Memorial/Prayer Service

Saturday morning, my shift started with a Memorial/Prayer service for the Haitian community in Manchester. It was a very touching service, and unfortunately, I was only able to stay for the beginning, because I heard from our writer that I missed many wonderful photographic moments.

UNH Women's Hockey vs. Maine, Sunday, November 1, 2009

Sunday afternoon, after finishing my work at the paper, I headed up to UNH to shoot UNH/Maine women's hockey. My old roommate and one of my best friends was behind the bench for the Black Bears making his return to the Whittemore Center. UNH won 5-0 in a relatively boring game, but it was good to see an old friend behind the bench, and see the 'Cats come out with the win. The first shot is my favorite one of the young season so far, and the final shot is coach McCloskey welcoming coach Stockdale back to UNH after the game.

Manchester City Marathon, Sunday, November 1, 2009

Sunday morning, after taking full advantage of the extra hour's sleep, I headed to downtown Manchester for the city Marathon. The weather was beautiful, and I grabbed some good shots for the paper. A slideshow should be online at unionleader.com very soon. Enjoy!

Night Shift - Saturday, October 31, 2009

Had a short but eventful shift on Halloween night at the paper. I was assigned coverage of trick or treaters in a neighborhood in Bedford. While wandering around and getting some pretty fun shots, I was called to a fire in Manchester. The fire had been a pretty big one, but by the time I got there (about 20 minute drive), nothing major was visible (it had been called into the FD at 6:05 and I was there at 6:55), so I got what I could and had to head back to file front page photos from Bedford. Later in the night, I was sent to a motorcycle vs. car accident on Elm Street, but once again, by the time I got there, there wasn’t much to see other than the bike lying in the road and the car off of the road….

UNH vs. Northeastern Football, Saturday, October 31, 2009

Shot the UNH/Northeastern CAA football game Saturday afternoon in Durham for the AP. One of the more boring games on the season and the 48-21 final score was a lot closer than this game actually was. UNH improved to 7-1 on the season and are one win away from locking up a NCAA playoff bid. With three games left, two at home, they have a shot at a first round home playoff game. Some okay pictures are included in this update. Enjoy!

Manchester Monarchs vs. Springfield Falcons - Sunday, October 18

Shot Monarchs' second home game of the year this afternoon. It was 5-0 Manchester mid-way through the second period, so it wasn't very suspenseful, but there were some nice goals, and a pretty good fight. Still enjoy college hockey more, but this is dang good hockey!
